The dark place, that's what I call it. A place of anger, self doubt, the place where it hurts so bad that you feel stuck. You may feel like that is where you want to be. You have a right to, don't you think? When you've been hurt, stabbed in the back, pushed down,;you want everyone to know you're hurt and who hurt you. SCREAM!!! That's enough, it's time to let go.
I've been in that dark place, too many time than I am proud to admit. Well sure, I invited you on this journey, so yes I am writing and still coming out.
Oh yeah, I was angry, hurt, betrayals coming from every end, seeming like every spectrum of my life was being attacked. Some days I felt like I wanted to vomit and others take my fist to someone's face, but that satisfaction is only momentary. What got me out was so unlikely. I remembered a quote that I was told so many years ago. "Come to the light, Carol Anne." For those of you who are familiar yes, it's from the 1982 movie "Poltergeist", and honestly, I never even saw the clip until I started writing this post.
My bestfriend in high school, dated a guy, who when he heard my name, thought of that quote. Every time I would see him, he would repeat it. It drove me crazy then, but now it's an unlikely element that has helped me to get back to the light. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_nLiys-TqY
Going back to the light, is easier said than done, but if we are going to make it past our circumstances, we must. When we are stuck in that place, we get the voices in our head that tell us to stay mad, stay bitter, get revenge. Those messages keep us from moving forward, and keep us from gaining our strength we need to go to the light. Our circumstances do not define us, they are merely stepping stones to our path. Often times many see those stepping stones as road blocks, but if we continue to look to the light we can overcome any obstacle.
My light is my faith. As it states in Psalm 37:25 "I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." Holding steadfast in the belief that God will help me through whatever may come, that is my light. When you can see past what may have held you down today, there is no way that you will continue to stay there. God has already shown us the light.
Where you are now, is not working for you. You must look within. It may look to be just a speck, but if you keep following, it will bring you into the daylight, into the spotlight, out from what seemed like a black hole. Come to the light Carol Anne and....Get Caryed Away.
